Hi Franky, yes Nginx is being used more and more these days and does perform better on some important benchmarks. For these reasons it is being used by some of the big managed hosting providers such as WP Engine, but I don’t think you’ll see it used on any shared hosting plans because it doesn’t have some of the flexibility and features required in a shared environment. Apache is still the web server of choice there. If you want a server running Nginx you’ll need to go with one of the managed WordPress providers that uses Nginx or lease a dedicated server where you can run whatever you want.
