Hostwinds offers a nice set of plans and options, with a focus on high quality at reasonable cost. Even shared hosting accounts include unlimited bandwidth and disk space, daily backups, cPanel software and a free dedicated IP address. They also include the commercial LiteSpeed Web Server for improved performance.
Such features might end up tipping a certain plan in your favor — depending on what you’re using your website for, you might save yourself money by opting for a plan that includes the extras you need.
Next, we ran the Load Impact test on SiteGround servers where we gradually built up to 100 unique visitors at once to see how their server would handle increased requests from multiple connections at once.
Of course the other ranking factor that everyone is talking about these days is speed so I wouldn’t go with a host on the other side of the world if you can help it. The best WordPress hosts these days will give you a choice of server locations so choose the one closest. On top of this you can also implement a good caching plugin and or a CDN.
HostGator hosts over 8 million domains and is one of the most popular web hosts in the industry. With 1-click WordPress installation, 99.9% up time guarantee, and 24/7 support, it’s a smart choice for every website owner. WPBeginner is a proud HostGator customer since 2007, and our website is hosted on HostGator dedicated servers. We consider them the best web hosting for businesses.
Clearly you didn’t hear about nshost. Don’t know about blue host but host gator is one of the worst services you can use I moved all my clients from hostgator to nshost and since then my life become much enjoyable.
Thank you very much, Marcus for this awesome guide, I have been looking for such a guide for a while. What VPS hosting companies do you recommend? I tried just host shared hosting and it was terrible performance wise and speed.
Great post, thanks for sharing. I’m familiar with BlueHost and Hostgator, must admit I have never had any difficulty with these hosting providers. Also use Go Daddy, and will be checking out the other alternatives. Thanks again for a great post.
The most streamlined process for moving a WordPress site that I have seen. Upgraded from an older GoDaddy hosting plan because GoDaddy called me and advised they could save me money. They did save my company a few hundred dollars. The new Managed WordPress Hosting made migration very simple. The transfer was done within an hour. Thanks!
Shared hosting means that you don’t have your own server, but you’re sharing the server with hundreds or even throusands of other users who have hosted their websites on the same server as well. Shared hosting is especially suitable if you’re looking for an inexpensive hosting solution to start your website. Shared hosting is less suitable for professional websites that are resource hungry or very active websites with many visitors, because of the limited server resources, which may lead to slow or unavailable websites at peak times.
Shared customers are often first-time site owners as well, so assistance in getting a site launched and promoted is extremely useful. This is why iPage excels in shared hosting — offering a free domain; unlimited emails, storage, and site traffic; and $200 in free advertising to kick off your new site.
Which host are you on? We’re pleased with WPEngine, but been getting 502 timeouts due to the amount of WooCommerce extensions we have. We are basically running 90 odd plugins at all times, and this causes 502 errors when we try updating the site. Add to the fact that we might soon be hitting 25k of unique visitors, we might need to look for a new host.
1&1 Hosting provides a wide range of hosting services, along with a full e-commerce stack, domain name registration, Office 365 solutions, and online marketing programs. What sets the company apart is their first-year hosting price of less than a buck a month. This is the least expensive hosting program we’ve seen, although the price does go up after that first year.

I can see you’ve had a bad experience, which is always hard to argue. But I think it would be interesting for you to learn that many people are recommending Bluehost and rate it in the top 3 hosting companies https://www.codeinwp.com/blog/2017-wordpress-hosting-survey/
As a web design, I can say that WP Engine is the best for WordPress. If your a web business with lots of traffic WP Engine is a good investment , however I find Hostgator more that acceptable for most small to mid-size website, especially if you add cloudflare or a cache plugin. Hostgator also has really good support. I can hop on a chat or call and be communicating in usually 1-2 minutes, practically zero down-time. I can name times where a website will be down and a client calls and by the time I check the website is back up.
Tired of the smale old web hosting problems? Your site is down, your customers are complaining and you cannot access your own website. This happens every day with people like you. The problem is bad web hosting choices.
Confused? Don’t know if you need shared hosting, VPS or a dedicated server for your project? Does server location matter? Should you use a Linux or Windows server? What about CDNs, SSDs, and ASP? Maybe you don’t even know what means? No worries — read the primer below.
Quick Note: HostGator is owned and managed by same company EIG, who runs Bluehost. Before HostGator cloud, we were on their shared hosting environment and didn’t had a pleasant experience, but it seems they are working hard to build their image.
But that’s not all, the support chat is available 24/7. We’ve tested it by asking some domain-related questions regarding the temporary URL of the site. The person on the other end was able to solve those at first try. Really cool.
The amount of traffic your website can handle really depends on the WordPress hosting plan that you’re on. Most shared hosting plans can comfortably handle 1000 to 2000 visitors per day as long as your website is optimized for performance.
Cloud hosting: is a new type of hosting platform that allows customers powerful, scalable and reliable hosting based on clustered load-balanced servers and utility billing. A cloud hosted website may be more reliable than alternatives since other computers in the cloud can compensate when a single piece of hardware goes down. Also, local power disruptions or even natural disasters are less problematic for cloud hosted sites, as cloud hosting is decentralized. Cloud hosting also allows providers to charge users only for resources consumed by the user, rather than a flat fee for the amount the user expects they will use, or a fixed cost upfront hardware investment. Alternatively, the lack of centralization may give users less control on where their data is located which could be a problem for users with data security or privacy concerns.
In this round of testing (October 2017) we are very pleased to see a marked improvement for InMotion over the results we recorded in previous testing. The chart above shows the average virtual user load time as the number of concurrent virtual users (VU) increases. The critical line is the blue line showing average user load time which increases significantly when the number of concurrent users gets to around around 70. This is however a noted improvement over past performance. The chart does however also show some failed requests as the number of total requests per second increases throughout the 10 minute test and we have to mark InMotion down for this.
