The Starter plan supports one website and 100 email accounts, includes 100GB of storage space, 2GB of RAM, 500MB local caching, and comes with antispam software. Both advanced plans support an unlimited number of websites and email accounts, and have unmetered storage space and unlimited local caching. Additionally, the Performance plan has 4GB of RAM and one dedicated IP address, and the Business Pro plan has 6GB of RAM, two dedicated IPs, an SSL certificate, and site backup and services.
As you can see, our test site loaded in less than two seconds. That’s faster than 85% of all tested websites. Considering the fact that our sample website wasn’t using any caching plugins or speed optimization tips, this result is very good.
Our system can automatically update your WordPress plugins and themes as new versions become available. Our unique Backup plugin for WordPress can automatically backup your site before updates for safe keeping and automatically roll-back in case an error occurs.
I have been to Hostgator, Media Temple, and several other shared hosting, even Synthesis. But nothing beats WP Engine in terms of performance, security as well as price. I haven’t tried Dreamhost though so I can’t comment on their services.
In this day and age, you don’t have to be a 5-star designer or experienced developer to have a website. That’s why man invented website builders — the time-saving, headache-free, web-design-for-dummies alternative to complex coding. You can point and click to add elements like photos or videos, type content into a visual editor, click one more button, and watch as it all magically appears live on the Internet. Seriously, these tools are brilliant, and it gets better:
One thing I’ll grant you is that EIG doesn’t have a great track record at integrating newly acquired hosts. As far as I can tell, the way it goes is an independent host carves out a niche for themselves by focusing on a specific market and offering a great product and service. EIG buys them, and keeps the brand in market, but moves all the customers over to their infrastructure. Inevitably this doesn’t go as smoothly as anyone would like so a lot of people get rightly annoyed and make complaints, and they are totally warranted. This seems to happen every time (I recall this with Site5 and A Small Orange quite recently).
Site5 provides chat, email and phone support. Our experience of 1st level support over the years has generally been great, however, we do note a big uptick in complaints since the sale to EIG. This is a common problem when a host is acquired and migrates of their service to another platform (never goes smoothly). We expect the complaints to subside as the migration is complete.
If you’ve never had a website before and will be launching one, before you sign up for a domain name, consider your options. We recommend that before you ever plan your unique site name, you analyze the focus of your online business and how much storage you’ll need.

A complex site calls for a more comprehensive package that provides database support and application development platforms (e.g. ASP.NET, ColdFusion, Java EE, Perl/Plack, PHP or Ruby on Rails). These facilities allow customers to write or install scripts for applications like forums and content management. Also, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is typically used for websites that wish to keep the data transmitted more secure.

I have created this comparison table to help you quickly see the main features of the hosting companies I have dealt with in my online career. To keep this table concise, some information (like uptime and features in detail) are left out. Check out the detailed reviews before you sign up to any of these hosts.
SiteGround was one of our top performers, and is especially impressive considering the $3.95 price point for their StartUp hosting tier. It does have a limitation of one website at that price point, but considering the average response time was ~700ms all the way to 50 concurrent users with no real hiccups, SiteGround offers a great value.

The downside of dedicated hosting is that you need technical skills, and to know how to configure and maintain a server. Unlike VPS or shared hosting, if something goes wrong on your dedicated server – it’s likely going to be up to you to fix it.
If you not yet heard of FastComet – you are in good company. FastComet is one of the fastest growing, yet still less known, web hosting providers, but this is changing now, as word of mouth plays a role. Your site will be super-fast with their SSD-only disk storage, free CDN, and worldwide server locations. They offer perfect configurations and free tools for WordPress sites, in addition to shared hosting, dedicated server, and cloud hosting.
In this article we’ve set out to simplify matters for you by running the rule over seven of the best hosting companies out there: WP Engine, SiteGround, Bluehost, Page.ly, Flywheel, Dreamhost, Hostgator, and InMotion.
We called each web hosting service multiple times at all hours of the day and night, testing the quality of the support given. We reached a percentage score by ranking five criteria. A representative needed to possess sufficient product knowledge without sending us links to the FAQs page. In support calls, we deducted points when the service tried to upsell us rather than resolve the problem. Personability, in both chat and phone support situations, was another factor in our scoring.
I usually bring my clients to WP Engine for hosting, but now that I have used GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting with its great UI and one-click migration, I’ll be bringing my clients to GoDaddy for a fraction of the annual fee.
Price – Managed WordPress hosting is significantly more expensive when compared to shared hosting. Base plan usually starts around $29/mo. where as shared hosting plan starts at $3.95/mo. But if you factor in the cost of running a large website and the salary of system admin, then this will sound like a pretty good option.
