Two years ago I created a walkthrough video on how to create a website in under 4 minutes. The web host I chose to do this was Bluehost, as their one-click website setup makes it extremely quick and easy to get a website up and running with no coding or design expertise.
Most of the web hosts above will give you a special promo price, either via a coupon or automatically if you sign up through this page. Disclaimer: Some of these hosts will pay us a commission in addition to giving you a promotional price. These commissions are reinvested in the development of the b2evolution software.

Over at Pingdom, our findings were a little better. Dreamhost scored a performance grade of 77 (which is solid), and the page loaded in 1.25 seconds. On the other hand, a quick test using the Developer Tools took 1.95 seconds – a small but significant increase.
Another thing that caught my attention is the use of high-tiered data centers. There are four levels of data centers as defined by the Telecoms Industry Association and the Uptime Institute which introduced the “Tier Standard” which basically refers to the availability of data processing from a center location. The higher up the tier a data center is classified the greater is the expected availability or uptime. With all of the companies ensuring 99.99% or 100% uptime, then theirs are Tier 3 or 4 facilities. A level 1 data center is simply a server room. Levels 3 and 4 meet the requirements and standards of lower levels and moreover are designed to host mission critical computer systems, with fully redundant subsystems, and continuous operation for an indefinite period of time during power outages. What could be more critical than guaranteeing that the thousands of websites hosted on servers in a data center are continually open, accessible and operating at all times.

Launch Assist is full-service support for any server needs you may have when getting started at InMotion Hosting. You get one-on-one time with a T3 Sys Admin to assist with things like large data or website transfers, email server configurations, server security setup, CRON automation, and more. While InMotion doesn’t excel in any particular area, it offers an overall decent WordPress experience. Loading speeds aren’t exceptional, but aren’t too bad either. Their support team is friendly and knowledgeable, but often take ages to answer. If we had to sum up InMotion in a single word, it would be “average”.
This one isn’t always a deal breaker, but it’s still important. Get a supplier with a trial period, and if you don’t like the services, you can always take them back to the register. This is always a safe option, and if you’re concerned at all, find a host with it.
Perhaps you’re less concerned with the familiarity aspect and more with the levels of control available. Then you might be more impressed with a proprietary control panel the web host created specifically for developers.
In order to keep costs low for customers, some web hosts offer what’s known as “shared hosting.” This means exactly what it says: that you’ll be sharing space on the server with other websites. In some cases, you’ll never even know that the other websites exist. However, if any of them should experience a traffic surge (and begin drawing up lots of your shared server resources to handle it) or should compromised in any other way (such as a hack), your site might be affected too. Think of it like a person catching a virus from someone nearby.
If you use your services consistently with the Terms of Service and these paragraphs, your site can grow as large as necessary to meet your small business needs, but to ensure a great experience for all, we will place some constraints on how fast you can grow. The vast majority of our customers’ sites grow at rates well within our rules, but our abuse controls may cause a brief delay while we evaluate if expansion is appropriate.
With a reputation similar to HostGator, GoDaddy sets up multiple examples on how the best website hosting is supposed to function. The American publicly traded Internet domain company went beyond HostGator’s head-spinning success, and currently serves over 17 million users and supports 72 million domains all around the globe. In that aspect, GoDaddy can be considered the world’s largest domain name hub and hosting service provider, and also praised by users for being highly secure. What makes GoDaddy unique is its focus on the corporate community – there are business-friendly .store domains that have been highly appreciated by online shoppers, as well as affordable SSL certificates that guarantee the safety of each user’s data. In a fashion reminiscent of HostGator, GoDaddy offers a hands-on website builder for novice users, lets owners retain adept control of what is happening on their websites, and comes with a 24/7/365 support and professional assistance.
There are many nice-looking themes, and some of them are available even for free, But, if a person intends to build a successful business, then it’s better to opt for a unique custom-made design. And, when it comes to hosting – there a many options to choose from. You just need to decide what exactly type of hosting will best suit your needs and then look for a hosting provider that will meet your requirements. Also, it’s important to choose services that are scalable enough to allow you to upgrade or downgrade them when necessary. For instance, I’ve been using a web hosting plan by BGOcloud. When my website grew bigger I moved to a higher plan, and now I’m using a VPS. In other words, the more popular your website becomes and the more resources it requires, the better hosting solution it will need. And don’t worry about the price, as there are many affordable services out there, and usually hosts make big discounts, so one can find a plan with very good characteristics for less than $10, let’s say.
Freebies. Each hosting plan comes with free website builder, over 100 mobile-friendly templates. image library, free website transfer, domain transfer, MYSQL transfer, script transfer, and 52 free script instantly installed on your account, among others.
GlowHost offers a wide variety of plans for those with very different hosting needs. We were particularly impressed with their media hosting plans, which include offerings for FFmpeg, SHOUTcast, and podcast hosting.
Security – Siteground keeps about 30 backup copies of your website. They also offer different types of SSL, depending on the plan you’ve purchased. All their servers use the latest PHP 7 version, with the latest security fixes. Also, they use ModSecurity and suExec, but you’ll have to visit their page for detailed info.
Keep those concepts in mind as you shop for a hosting service. Our hosting service rankings are based on nearly 40 factors including quality of support, guarantee, availability of security services, performance architecture, and promotional pricing.
The service and the name of Namecheap certainly have much in common, given that it is probably your best bet of acquiring a low-price, yet high-quality domain name. For instance, .org domains are available for as low as $9.99 and purchased with a single click of a button, whether you’ve just come up with the title of your brand, or transferred a current name to the company’s professionals. Prices are equally affordable for high-performance shared hosing buyers and those interested in managed WordPress hosting (with or without a site on the popular CMS platform), and object to both monthly and annual subscriptions. They all get a hands-on kit of creation material, from site builders to site analytics.
Thank you very much, Marcus for this awesome guide, I have been looking for such a guide for a while. What VPS hosting companies do you recommend? I tried just host shared hosting and it was terrible performance wise and speed.
The downside of dedicated hosting is that you need technical skills, and to know how to configure and maintain a server. Unlike VPS or shared hosting, if something goes wrong on your dedicated server – it’s likely going to be up to you to fix it.
For example, you sell t-shirts on your blog. A user clicks on size to see if you have any large ones left.PHP is like the intercom from the front of your store to your warehouse — Hey guys, got any large t-shirts back there?

Beyond that, Dreamhost is a 5-of-5 hosting company for many reasons. They operate their own control panel, which is convenient and easy to understand. While phone support isn’t available 24-7, they are responsive to chat and tickets. The company uses superfast SSDs for all their storage, has a free SSL certificate (for more secured web browsing), and provides SSH access for those plans that are intended for more technical users.
WebHostingStuff.com uses a computer program to automatically check each web hosting company’s main page on a regular basis. If they get a response, they know the webpage is up. If not, they continue pinging it until they get a response. It’s a massive undertaking for the — no joke — thousands of web hosts out there.
Now, if you stop and think about this for a sec, it doesn’t make sense. If you MUST have a plan in order to have a custom domain, and if a custom domain is FREE with a plan, then why would the system show pricing for a custom domain? See how that doesn’t make sense?
